In May 2024, a group of enthusiastic students from Universidad de Navarra, Spain, traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in a one-week program on Politics and Governance in the United States, organized by Gateway to Georgetown. Throughout their stay, the students explored the intricacies of U.S. politics, culture, and economy through engaging lectures by Georgetown University professors. They studied a wide range of topics, including public policy, the healthcare system, the role of media in politics, and the dynamics of the 2024 election cycle.
Their schedule was packed with highlights. The students visited places such as the U.S. Capitol and the International Monetary Fund. They also attended a professional briefing with a representative from the U.S. Department of State, which added depth to their understanding of U.S. foreign policy. Their week concluded with in-depth lectures on U.S. foreign and security policy, as well as current transatlantic relations, which further enriched their experience before they departed the United States.
