Management Students Visit Frederick

This March, Gateway to Georgetown welcomed management students from ISM-IAE Université de Versailles St. Quentin for a week-long program at the Georgetown University Main Campus.
During their time in DC, the students visited local manufacturing companies to learn about their products, management styles, and American business culture. They spent one day in Frederick, Maryland. Their first stop was the Rinker Materials plant, where they were guided through the process of creating, testing, and placing concrete structures that are essential to our roadways. The students learned about the costs, labor, and auditing involved in large-scale infrastructure projects.
After lunch, the group headed to Wright Materials and learned about each step involved in the manufacturing of commercial lawn mowers, from conceptualization to production and shipping. The students had a frank conversation with management about navigating challenges brought on by the pandemic and what the company does to encourage employee retention, health, and happiness.
