Our expertise comes from more than 30 years of institutional knowledge as a Center and from the diverse educational and professional backgrounds of our team. With in-house subject matter expertise in everything from education and youth development to international business and trade, we are well equipped to meet the needs of our partners and participants.
Today, CIED is an internationally recognized leader in delivering distinctive, impactful programming in four key areas: academic training and exchanges, English language programming, youth programming, and fostering intercultural understanding. Staff dedicated to each program take the time to understand our partners’ mission and goals. Our team’s cultural diversity and expansive global experience ensures that CIED programs are carefully tailored to meet the needs of participants across the globe.
Academic Training & Exchanges
CIED can customize program design to the exact needs of institutional, governmental, and academic partners around the world, bringing groups of executives, government officials, and college students to Georgetown University for intensive academic instruction, professional networking, and cultural exposure to the United States.
English Language Programming
This has been a CIED focus since 1981. We have special expertise in teaching English to speakers of other languages and incorporate English language into many of our programs. We have implemented programs for such partners as the U.S. Dept. of State and can create customized programs in this area for partners at sites around the world.
Youth Programming
CIED’s leadership development, English language, and intercultural immersion programs for youth have made a significant impact in the lives of young people from the Caribbean and Central America to the Middle East and Africa. CIED’s federally funded youth programs prepare global citizens to lead, serve, and change the world.
Fostering Intercultural Understanding
CIED’s internationally diverse staff, deep knowledge of our participants’ cultural perspectives, and global reach all contribute to our strong track record of success in developing programs that help business and government leaders and students from around the world to deepen their understanding of U.S. perspectives and culture.
