YOUTH AMBASSADORS PROGRAM

In December of 2017, Georgetown University joined a consortia led by World Learning including Amigos de las Americas and SUNY Plattsburg, New York to implement the new Youth Ambassadors (YA) Program. The Youth Ambassadors Program is a U.S. Department of State youth exchange designed to strengthen the leadership skills of young people from Latin America and the United States. This multi-national exchange also builds bonds of friendship and understanding between people of the Caribbean, Central and South America and people of the United States.

Call for MEPI Alumni Mentors for the Student Leaders Program Capstone Seminar March/April 2018

The U.S. Department of State funded, and Georgetown University administered Student Leaders Program (SLP) is looking for MEPI alumni mentors to lead trainings and facilitate sessions for 2017 student leaders during the three-day Capstone Seminar that will take place in Tunisia, sometime from March 15 to April 15, 2018. This is a great opportunity for alumni to help develop the leadership skills and civic engagement opportunities of new student leaders across the MENA region!

Strategic Communications for Adolfo Ibáñez University – Chile

The Gateway to Georgetown Program was pleased to host a high-level executive program in Strategic Communications for graduate students and academics during the first week of August from Chile’s Adolfo Ibáñez University. The program offered 5 days of classes and site visits to organizations in Washington DC, including the Department of State, the American Petroleum Institute, LinkedIn and Facebook, among others.

Responsible Organizations in the Global Context

Georgetown University's Center for Intercultural Education & Development (CIED) is proud to partner with the LAREQUOI Research Center for Management of the University of Versailles to bring together researchers and thought leaders in responsible leadership and management for a two-day conference at Georgetown University on June 15-16, 2017.

CIED hosts Honduran Access students

CIED recently hosted eight Honduran students from the U.S. Department of State English Access Microscholarship Program. Throughout their one week visit to Washington DC area, CIED provided opportunities for the students to learn about U..S. civics and volunteerism.

MEPI Alumni Conference

Georgetown CIED organized and implemented the MEPI Student Leaders alumni professional development conference for the 2015 cohort in Istanbul, Turkey March 9-12, 2016. Ninety-two students who completed their six-week leadership program in the summer of 2105 participated in the conference.

MEPI alumnus develops revolutionary technology

Khaled Ghanayem, an alumnus of the MEPI Student Leaders Program, is leading the effort to help people with disabilities in Israel and across the world. He and his team developed a revolutionary technology that helps smartphone users with mobility impairments gain better control of their devices.

Turning Dreams of Being a Global Leader into Reality (El Salvador)

Brenda, from El Salvador, has managed to make the most of her opportunities to fulfill her desire of becoming a change-maker. Since her CAYA days, Brenda has gone on to make great strides on her path to becoming a global leader and currently works for a prominent nonprofit in her country.
