Jian Chen

Dr. Jian Chen currently works as the Managing Director of IFE Group. Previously he held the position of Risk Modeling Director in Freddie Mac, responsible for the credit risk modeling and pricing of Freddie Mac’s $1.7 trillion residential mortgages. He also worked as the Director of Credit Risk Management in Fannie Mae, managing more than $115 billion high-risk mortgage portfolio.

Dr. Chen holds the academic position of adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. He teaches MBA-level finance courses in investments, risk management, real estate finance, corporate finance, and financial modeling. He also taught executive MBA courses at Georgetown University, Graduate School, Renmin University of China. He has been invited to give research seminars to many universities, government agencies, and research institutions, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Futures Exchange, Department of Housing and Urban Development, etc.

Dr. Chen also writes column articles for China’s CAIXIN media, and hosts a popular blog with topics on China’s housing market and housing policies.

Dr. Chen’s research interests include Real Estate Finance and Economics, Fixed Income Securities Pricing & Hedging, Consumer Behavior Modeling, and Quantitative Risk Management.

Dr. Chen has his BS in EE from Xi’an Jiaotong University, his MS in EE from Shanghai Jiaotong Unviersity, and his Ph.D. in Computational Finance from Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland at College Park.
